A JUDGE THAT IS FAIR, IMPARTIAL, & INDEPENDENT FOR OUR MONTANA SUPREME COURT

Judge Amy Eddy
Judge Amy Eddy

Judge Amy Eddy grew up at a small family lodge alongside her parents and two younger sisters. They were snowed in during the winters. When she began kindergarten, she cross-country skied 2.5 miles down the road to catch the school bus into town. At that time, their town had a two-room K-8 school with just ten students. Her mother would ski her out each morning in the dark, and her father would meet her at the bus in the afternoon to ski her home. Her father, always patient, would encourage her with the words, “just glide, Amy, just glide.” That early lesson instilled in her the values of hard work and follow-through—lessons that have guided every stride of her personal and professional journey.

Those formative experiences built the foundation for the judge she is today. They gave her grit, stamina, and a deep understanding of the value of perseverance—especially when the path ahead is difficult.

That same work ethic propelled Judge Eddy through law school at the University of Montana, through a successful legal practice, and ultimately to the bench. Appointed in 2015, she has since been elected three times by the voters of Flathead County. Over the past decade, she has presided over more than 10,000 cases as a District Court Judge—ranging from Kalispell to Glendive, from family law and felony trials to complex constitutional issues. She calls it the honor of her life to serve the people of Montana in this role.

Now, Judge Eddy is running for the Montana Supreme Court. She believes Montanans deserve a Justice who is impartial, experienced, and committed to applying the law fairly. On the Court, she will protect individual freedoms, uphold the Montana Constitution, hold criminals accountable, and preserve the integrity of the judicial system. She is deeply committed to keeping politics out of the courtroom.

For Judge Eddy, the Supreme Court is not a legislature and not a campaign battleground—it is a court of law. It must remain a place where outcomes are determined by the facts and the law, and where every Montanan—regardless of background, income, or political belief—can expect to be treated fairly and equally.

In her courtroom, Judge Eddy hears from Montanans who are deeply concerned about safety in their communities and about the stability of the legal system. She knows that a consistent rule of law is critical—not just for public safety, but also for the health of Montana’s economy. Stability in the law gives small businesses the confidence to plan and grow. It provides Montana’s farmers and ranchers with the certainty they need to make long-term decisions about land and operations.  And it empowers personal freedoms.  People need to know that the rules will remain steady—that they can be counted on regardless of politics or power.

Judge Eddy believes that the rule of law is more than just a principle—it is the foundation of a free society, and it must be protected.

She also understands that judging is a deeply human endeavor. It is about more than interpreting statutes and precedent; it is about listening—really listening—to the people before the court. Every decision has real consequences for real people, often for generations. That responsibility demands more than legal knowledge. It demands empathy, common sense, and the stamina to show up every day ready to serve.

These are the qualities Judge Eddy has brought to the bench throughout her career. They are the same principles she will carry with her to the Montana Supreme Court.

Judge Amy Eddy is asking for the support of all Montanans—not just as a candidate, but as a fellow citizen who believes in fairness, justice, and the promise of equal treatment under the law. She is ready for the road ahead and looks forward to earning the trust of voters across the state.

Judge Amy Eddy
On the Supreme Court, I will focus on protecting Montanans’ freedoms and rights. I will uphold the Constitution. I will always follow the law and I’ll keep politics out of the courtroom. As a judge, I have always been proud of the fact that everyone who steps into my court gets a fair shake, and I’ll continue this approach on our state’s highest court.
